About Lanterns & Light

The degree to which you can find self-compassion is the degree to which you will find healing.

My approach to counseling is through the lens of story-work. In story-work we look at the whole of your life, who you are, where you’ve been and how you have arrived here today. Together we explore with curiosity and awe the collection of meaningful moments, days, years, memories, events, and experiences you’ve lived. We will both celebrate the high points and the triumphs, and also courageously engage the places where you've been greatly harmed and shame and self-contempt have set up camp. Growth, freedom and peace can and do exist side-by-side with pain, a belief that we hope will reveal itself in increasing truth throughout your therapeutic journey. It is when we agree to look at the wounding that we've endured, and to grieve the many losses, that we begin to find new life under the death.

Therapeutic approaches used at Lanterns & Light Counseling: Trauma-Informed, CBT, Narrative, Psychodynamic,  Existentialism, Family Systems, Person Centered, Attachment-Based.
